Why are there decimal points in inventory?

Because Dimension 21 allows you to order and distribute items in more than unit of measure, when you look at inventory the system allows you to look at the inventory for each unit of measure. Therefore, if you have a product listed as a box of 36 and 1 each, the system will divide the eaches in inventory into the total number of products in stock. When you are looking at the Products screen, you may select the unit of measure to view the Quantity on Hand and the Quantity on Order. If items have been removed from the inventory in eaches, when you view the Quantity on Hand for that item by the box, there will be a decimal because there is a box that has some depleted stock. The system deals with this similar to that of a percentage. Example: Our current inventory for this item is 23 box of 36 or 828 each. Six individual items are requisitioned and used. The Quantity on Hand for this item for the unit of measure box will be 22.83 and the Quantity on Hand for each is 822.
