There is fairly uniform agreement, that trans fatty acids increase LDL cholesterol levels (“bad” cholesterol) and decrease HDL cholesterol levels (“good” cholesterol). In fact it is believed that trans fatty acid are worse that saturated fatty acids in this regard.
