Why are water resources limited?

0

Demand for water in homes and industry is increasing. Water use could become unsustainable and damage the environment if this demand continues. Although water is now used more efficiently, public demand for water continues to increase. Household water consumption has risen over the last 12 years because of increasing numbers of households, increasing use of domestic appliances and warmer weather (Indicator: Household water use). In 1995, demand for public water was particularly high due to the unusually dry hot weather that year. The hot summer of 2003 could have caused a similar increase. As more houses are built, and more people have power showers and swimming pools, demand for water will increase.
