I love the question. It gives me the opportunity to cut and paste my reasons to let Saudi women drive. See below for the arguments that I’ve heard. … * What if she gets a flat tire? She might get raped. – She can lock her doors and call for help. Better yet, she can travel with a young non-driving mahram or other women, if this is a legitimate fear. This will help provide safety, if men cannot be trusted to refrain from acting like animals. * Saudi Arabia has other problems to fix first. – That’s a plain and simple stall tactic. i wish to know the answer my self, but the best thing i came up with is that if they will allow women to drive they will start losing control over women, as in Saudi arabia a woman is considered a second degree human and totally controlled by the men in her life. and the no. 1 reason as told by saudi men is that if a woman went out by her self and drive her own car she will face all type of harassment as youngsters (men) here see a woman only as a sex object, so based on that men say we don’t want our wives, daughters and sisters to face such a situation.
