Why can departments no longer bid to the Performance Review Fund?
It has been agreed by HR Policy Committee that, with effect from 2008-09, the £80,000 Performance Review Fund (set aside to fund training and development activities) will become aligned to the Better Management planning process which itself incorporates a training needs analysis. Rather than invite departments to bid for funding, the money will remain in the Professorial & Organisational Development (POD) budget so that it can be allocated by POD to support specific training and development needs identified through an improved prioritisation and planning process. This change has been introduced to increase the effectiveness of the University’s staff development provision and maximise the value the University receives from the money invested.
