Why can WinCC tags have the status “write-protected” and thus cannot be edited, deleted or moved?

Description: WinCC tags received the “write-protected” status when they are created by AS-OS Engineering (OS Compile). In this case you cannot edit the tags in the WinCC project, but only in the associated STEP 7 project. If, for example, the attribute “S7_m_c = true” is set at a block connection, at an input in the global data block or symbol table, then a corresponding tag is created in the WinCC Tag Management. The WinCC data type here is dependent on the data type in the STEP 7 project. Note: The WinCC Smart Tool “WinCC Configuration Tool” provides an alternative option for editing/deleting tags. However, renewed OS compilation overwrites the changes.
