Why did 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of B.C. discontinue the Explorations program?
While there were many wonderful experiences provided by Explorations summer camps in communities throughout B.C., two important objectives of the program were not being met on a consistent basis. The first was to continue the work being done in the summer camp throughout the school year, providing students with more opportunities to experience arts and sports during their classroom learning. The second was the ability to sustain the camps through community partnerships. Infusion: Arts in Education will use summer camps as practicum opportunities for teachers to apply the arts-infused techniques before they take them into their classroom in the fall. The sustainability of the program comes from not requiring outside resources to implement the program in the school year.
