Why did Health Canada re-evaluate 2,4-D specifically?
As part of our normal process, Health Canada is currently conducting a re-evaluation of all pesticides registered before January 1, 1995 to ensure they meet modern health and safety standards. As scientific knowledge evolves and new information becomes available, Health Canada requires that registered pesticides be re-evaluated according to modern risk assessment approaches. Similar re-evaluation programs exist in other countries within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), such as the United States and those of the European Union.
