Why did Leonardos paintings the Mona Lisa and The last supper make him so famous?
I have to disagree with Jeff. The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa did make Leonardo famous, or at least it gave him a lot of reputation. Due to this Leonardo got into legal problems, which is the reason why we have more then a couple unfinished paintings, In addition many patrons regardless of the admiration they held towards leonardo often passed commissions to more reliable painters whom they knew would actually finish the paintings.
