Instead, the knowledge of this place was probably passed down from family to family or clan to clan over generations. Picture a day when it might be snowing or raining or windy or very hot. Think how wonderful it would be to have a place like this to get out of the elements. In these caves, people could build a fire and work on arrows, clothing or tools. They could dry the meat they would carry with them when the left. During the excavations, workers found the bones of every large mammal known to the area, and many of them were worked.
