Why didn the seamstress tell on Anja?
Courtney: The seamstress did not tell on Anja because she was a loyal and respectful woman, in that she was willing to place her life on the line to protect the good name of her friend. She was loyal for many reasons. Vladek explains one of them explaining, “(Anja) Miss Stefanska-PLEASE! Hide this package for me-Don’t tell anyone about it!/ And Anja was a good customer, so she agreed.” (28) Because Anja had a good relationship with this woman, due to her granting her business and giving her money, she did her this favor. This was a treatment that Anja earned rather than was granted on the spot. This women felt that part of the reason her business was still up and running was because of constant customers like Anja, and she felt that holding this package could be the least she could do to repay her. Also, this woman seemed to be a very genuine and loyal to her word in that when asked by the police how she obtained these documents she responded, “I never saw it before-one of my customers
