Why do Kleptomania and Bulimia Nervosa often co-exist?

Okay, I don’t have bulimia, so I don’t know for sure– but I do have an eating disorder and I can see how this behavior would be related to kleptomania. I don’t know much about kleptomania. But on an outside level, it seems kleptomaniacs grab lots of things to fulfill a compulsive desire. People with eating disorders do the same thing. There is often a guilt that follows the eating. Bulimics eat a ton of food all at once (in the same way a klepto may steal lots of things for pleasure), but then they throw it up or use laxatives/diuretics to undo the “damage” they felt they’ve done. This is due to guilt. I’m not sure what the patterns of guilt and after-effects associate with kleptomania are, but that’s just a guess.

I can confirm that there are connections between eating disorders, depression & kleptomania. It is all about the feeling of being in and out of control. I suffer from all 3 of these conditions and find that I can get 2 out of 3 under control at any one time.
