Here is a typical and recent example of an objection I received on this topic: One thing that confounds me is the ever-changing positions and text in your scriptures. The Bible is the same as it always has been…. Not so with the Book of Mormon, which changes. LDS followers are encouraged to accept the latest version as is. I would think that if the books are inspired by God, they would not change. I know of specific cases where those trying to learn of the original text contents and meaning were reprimanded. Have you read the text from the original books? In the case of the Bible, I have. In fact I can get them at the local Christian bookstore and have several copies in my house.
