Why do men like women to wear makeup, shave our legs, groom and alter ourselves?

Men don’t shave their legs because being hairy is generally considered masculine. Smoothness is associated with femininity. That’s a cultural thing, not a biological one: in some cultures women don’t shave their legs. In fact it’s only part of our culture for the last hundred years or so, once bare legs and even armpits became common. But that doesn’t mean men don’t work to look attractive. Men commonly exercise, and some men have jobs that involve heavy physical labor. (That’s not to say that women don’t work hard physically at their jobs, but it’s not the sort of heavy lifting that develops large muscles.) These marks of vigor are attractive. A man looking for a girlfriend/wife will dress up and wear his hair in particular ways, especially when he’s going out. Still… women continue to wear makeup even after they’re married or are otherwise not looking to find a mate. They wear makeup to work and other non-romantic occasions, and even when nobody is going to see them at all. It’s be

Well, not all men like women to wear make-up. My wife has a naturally beautiful face and looks great, even without make-up (IMHO). I don’t like it when she wears lipstick when we go out because she doesn’t let me kiss her properly in case in messes up the lippie. The shaving and all that is generally cultural (not every culture thinks that women should shave – and some regard it as improper). Also, in my experience, women shave as much because of how they think other women will react if they don’t (not just how men would react). So, women perpetuate this “cultural norm” (as far as the US is concerned) themselves. I see this as true even I look around at the women I know that I see as very self-empowered. And trust me, I shave my face even when I don’t want to. Although facial hair is more generally accepted in the US, there are limits. For example, if I came to work looking unshaven on a regular basis, I would certainly hear about it (due to the professional environment I work in). Yes

If it bothers you that much, why shave and why wear makeup? However, I think it has a little to do with nature and the mating process. People, just like most of the other animals, choose their mates and a lot has to do with looks. If I don’t think you look like a good mate, I’ll pass and you could end up being very lonely or you might get lucky and get someone with lesser standards, meaning they like the hairy, no makeup type. By the way, this does go both ways. Just because I want you doesn’t mean you’ll want me so the feelings have to be mutual. If you want to look like a sasquatch, I’m sure someone will find you attractive because they wouldn’t care what you look like but I prefer the type that looks more like Barbie.
