Why do only certain people get group access?
Network registrations have been done centrally for many years now so everyone was able to request registration changes. With the tighter access restrictions in place we can prevent end users from changing things they should not have access to, but at the same time open up the registration process so Computing Officers can have more control over registrations on their part of the campus network. Users can still register and change their own machines, but for any problems with machines not registered to them they will be able to go to their Schools Computing Officer rather than having to go through ISS.
