Why do people cut down rainforests?

To make room for farm and ranch land (to raise animals and farm crops). Also, the trees produce many resources produced from wood such as fibers to make clothing, paper, and for construction lumber. The trees also contain sap and other material that may be turned into other products such as gum, etc. In many of the countries that contain rain forest areas, these forests comprise a large part of their natural resources so they often have very little from which to make money so it is an easy resource for them to pick. It is more convenient for other countries to jump on places like Brazil or Argentina for allowing rain forests to be cut down because those other countries do not rely on the rain forest, directly, to survive.

Stupidity and then greed. As you know rain forests supply us with vital oxygen without which we wouldn’t be able to breath. So, some people are not aware of these circumstances or want to make a quick profit more than likely and that’s the reason. Years from now when you are gasping for breath and wonder where all the oxygen has gone, think of these rich capitalists who also will be short of breath, although their bank balances will be healthy enough.
