Why do people in Asia/India mistake westernisation for modernisation?
In this world of modernising, manufacturing expots are the rice-bowl for a country. Japan and many European countried do this with very high quality but they don’t force it on people. US products are inferior in quality, bring a lot of bad effects but are forced thru the people in the name of advertisements. People easily get pulled away by the fake stuff. Look at all the fast food restaurants, cosmetic stuffs, dressing cultures. Japan and many European nation still hold on very well to there cultures and ethics. They cherish, embrace and pass-on to the next generation.
Dear Sister, it was the western world where INDUSTRIALIZATION emerged on a large scale. Today, modernism is marked by the fast emerging technologies including the communication technology. You cannot imagine today’s lifestyle without these GADGETS and GIZMOS. You should remember that, INDUSTRIALIZATION brought with it a lot of changes in the way people lived their lives and the process still continues. It has been scientifically proven that URBANIZATION does have an impact on the PSYCHE of the civilization. You notice today we see no new CIVILIZATION coming into being. Today any new change in the behaviour of people is attributed to MODERNIZATION which is not exactly correct. Today even INDIA is playing a bigger role in modernization of SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY but INDIA is an ASIAN country.
