Why do Security Guards wear suits?
The key here is the word ‘uniform’. Most jurisdictions legally require uniforms for security guards and specify what the uniform must include in order to be licenced. eg. name tag, company name, the words ‘Security Guard’ on the front of the shirt or jacket, the word ‘Security’ on the back of the jacket, no similarity to police uniform, no reference to ‘law’ or ‘enforcement’, etc. etc. Also, security guards are not necessarily tasked with following or chasing anybody … they must stay on station protecting the people and property that the client wants them to. They note the suspect’s description, offence, direction of travel, licence number, etc. and report it to the police. A single security guard should not be chasing anybody. .
