Why do so many Christians vehemently deny reincarnation?

The Pharisees may have believed in it, but then again, Christ reprimanded them. I’ve been reading the Bible (slowly), first read the New Testament and now the Old (almost finished with Leviticus); so far I haven’t come across anything that supports reincarnation, but in the NT, I did read that each person goes through one death, but there will be those that will go through a second one. The second one comes after Christ returns and resurrects everyone who has died, and He will judge them. Those that are judged well will continue life, but those that don’t will go through the second death. No more than that, not multiple deaths. If you think about it, Christ will return to judge, if we have multiple lives, which life will he judge? Doesn’t make sense. Anyway, I don’t recall where in the NT I read this. It was either in John or Revelations.
