Why do some channels have sparkles, lines, and ghosts in them?
A. The sparkles, lines and ‘ghosts’ normally seen on some channels are the result of atmospheric interference. This interference is caused by electrical storms, other radio transmissions, reflections from buildings and other sources. Normally, these problems appear on broadcast television signals. The problem is worse during certain weather conditions. There is little we can do to change it. We are working with the local broadcast stations to receive digital or fiber optic feeds of their signals to avoid this atmospheric interference.
