Why do some missing patches or bulletins appear to change severity depending on view?
Some bulletins are issued that have different severities depending on the target platform. For instance, an issue may be critical on XP but only important on Windows 7 because something like UAC mitigates the severity on the other platform. Depending on how you scope your view, looking at a machine’s missing patches versus all missing patches, the highest severity in the given context is displayed. If you change your context, this severity may be displayed differently.
