Why does Annie have a feeding tube?

0

Annie got her feeding tube (called a G-button) when she was 2 years old. It is a port on her tummy that allows us to feed her through a tube directly into her stomach. She needs this feeding tube because she has a very weak swallow and can easily aspirate (get liquids into her lungs). We chose to get a feeding tube for Annie after she had been suffering for 6 months from persistent vomiting, was losing weight, and was not expected to live much longer.
