Why does AVG Internet Security 9.0 hog memory?

Simple – AVG lost the way after Version 7 by adding non-functional items to version 8 onwards, therfore increasing the resources required to run the program. It has also been riddled with update ptoblems in V8, V8.5 and V9 with ‘invalid CTF file’ which there is a fix for but in most instances complete removal and reinstallation fixes the problem…this is not a good sign for a widely used security program. I trashed V8 and expect to do the same on my evaluation of V9 as it is too bulky and lacks real functionality in the way of realtime protection. Avast i have used for over 2 years and never had to carry out a scan, used alongside other security apps such as MSE, Threatfire, MBAM (on-demand) SpywareBlaster and Winpatrol 2010 plus Sandboxie for surfing, you will be more than secure….and at no cost apart from your time. Avast 5 – in beta – promises to be even better with greater functionality and lower resources and again requiring minimal input from the end user.
