Why does Bobby Orrs name rarely ever come up in G.O.A.T discussions?
I think among the true hockey fans who have been around the game Orr gets his fair share of accolades. I cant imagine among the normal people in here is it even questioned that he is the greatest defenseman of all times and singlehandedly changed the way the game is played. You make excellent points and the casual fans think every debate starts and ends with Gretzky/Lemieux or Crosby/Ovechkin. What about Howe/Richard, Broduer/Roy, Plante/Sawchuk, etc.. In no particular order here is a list of guys that I feel are among the G.O.A.T. Wayne Gretzky Gordie Howe Mario Lemieux Bobby Orr Mark Messier (a guy who never gets the true amount of recognition he deserves) Rocket Richard Doug Harvey Jaques Plante Terry Sawchuk Patrick Roy (not a fan but who can deny his greatness?) There are another 5-10 (probably missed a couple that should be on any top 10 and when I read other answers I’ll smack my forehead and say “oh yea” forgot him) who could easily and rightly be added to my list but bottom li
