Why doesn iBook G3 Clamshell see firewire devices?

0

While attempting to install Tiger from my G5 iMac onto my G3 iBook (firewire)in target disc mode, the iBook isn’t seen or mounted on the iMac desktop. The iBook will go into target disc mode just fine. Apple hardware test says that everything is OK. I don’t have any other firewire devices attached. System profiler says that “no devices are found” when I connect an external drive to the iBook via firewire. I tried another firewire cable that I know is good and am presently using and still nothing. The firmware is curent on both computers. Is the firewire port toast? When I connect the iBook to an external drive with firewire, the drive knows something is connected and the drive will spin up, but there is nothing on the iBook desktop. Thanks for your help.
