Why has CUPE only allowed for 2 observers from EMS to sit on meetings in the future?

Local 1252 has decided to have two Paramedics sit in on the discussions. CUPE Local 1252 felt that this process warranted the direct involvement of Paramedics. There will be Gordon Black, Patrick Roy and Susan Barton there as CUPE Representatives. The inner executive of CUPE Local 1252 will be there as well. They are Dave Rouse, Doug Kingston and Robert LaFleur. The two Paramedics are Gerard McKen from the current private sector and Denis Beaulieu from the public sector. The current structure of CUPE 1252 allows any member to run for the provincial executive and this gets that member a seat on the provincial bargaining team. With the new ambulance structure coming into effect, Paramedics will have a seat at this provincial table. In the past this was available to all, but Paramedics have not been involved to a great extent.
