Why implement CET Rural Electrification Solutions?
Significant differences in access to roads, transport and markets between electrified and non-electrified communities exist. The economics of extending the grid to rural areas has traditionally been least prohibitive for communities closer to a road. Thus, communities closer to a road have been likely to be electrified first and, when conditions permit, other facilities and infrastructure usually expanded over time to communities further from a road. The CET Rural Electrification solution can be easily and cost-effectively implemented in all off-grid communities enabling local officials and interested NGO’s to “extend the grid” to all constituents. The charge is then passed on to a private or semi private company who installs generator sets and a community grid to supply a few hundred watts to each home and a few KW to public places
