Why is my female neutered cat passing blood?

If she is straining and not urinating at all this is an emergency situation and you need to take her to the vets ASAP. It could be a blocked bladder which is an emergency situation as the urethra is blocked meaning the urine and toxins cannot escape from the body sending the cat into shock and renal failure if not treated. Don’t panic though, if she is still managing to pass urine in small amounts then this is good and can probably wait til morning as long as she sees the vet 1st thing. The fact that she is bright leads me to think it is probably a severe urinary infection as with a blocked bladder the condition is so painful that the cat will howl out in pain. It is more common in males than females anyway. Cats can also be prone to something called cystitis which is basically a severe bladder infection. Sometimes it is brought on by stress or a change in the household and cats are especially more prone to it when they are overweight. Treatment is usually by antibiotics, anti-inflamma
