Why is parent participation important?

Foundations and corporations often look at parent participation percentages as a gauge of community involvement. Broad-based Annual Fund participation reflects an engaged and invested community; therefore, foundations and corporations are more inclined to invest themselves. How does parent participation work if we are a two-household family? In a two-household family, we solicit both parents. If one parent gives, we count that as 100% family participation, though we welcome gifts from both parents. How does the School determine “ask” amounts? As is true at most independent schools, “ask” amounts are determined through an inexact science that takes into consideration past giving levels (either at Archer or at a previous school). If an individual is concerned about the size of the gift he or she has been asked to make, please encourage the parent to talk to the Development Office. The last thing we want to do is make anyone uncomfortable. Will I be asked to make other donations this year
