Why is Science City considered a new planning model? Because it is integrated planning.
A critical dialogue is necessary for sustained and lasting Science City planning. Therefore, the interim results have always been discussed with various target groups or stakeholders since the initial sketches were put to paper. The ETH was very pleased to hear that all of the participants understood that finding more living quality and better homes was essential in finding a balance among research, living, and residing. The intensive revision of the first draft from 2003 is a sign of how important the ETH regards the input from these parties. This revision work carefully considered all of the objections and integrated them as much as possible into the project. This review process ultimately led to the present accepted master plan.
