Why is skills standards testing important?
Skills mastery is important because one must be able to rely on a professional to be competent. To be competent, a professional must have, among other requirements, the requisite knowledge for the task. Testing is one way to demonstrate mastery of a knowledge base. Other ways are also valid, for example, prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR) and successful completion of accredited programs.
