Why is the output of the VFAPI converter unusable?
Most likely you haven’t properly installed it. VFAPI is an AVI codec and has to be installed before it can be used. The VFAPI package comes with a file called vifpset.bat which you have to execute prior to using VFAPI. If that doesn’t help most likely some of the AVI related registry items are messed up and you should download and run avifile.reg. Another issue is VirtualDub: If you have the AVI proxy turned on you’ll have to turn it off again.
