Top House Republican Launches Ad Attacking “Cap-and-Trade” Legislation 06/25/09 12:43 pm (EST) (RTTNews) – A top Republican in the House of Representatives launched a new video Thursday attacking “cap and trade” legislation meant to control pollution emissions by using a system of credits that companies can trade. The video, released by House Republican Whip Eric Cantor, claims that cap and trade legislation will impose a national energy tax of up to $3,100 on all Americans and will slam small businesses with higher energy bills, causing the loss of millions of jobs. The ad, entitled “Number One Priority”, begins by showing a short clip from an interview President Barack Obama gave to Bloomberg News, in which he said he believes unemployment will reach 10% this year. It also accuses House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proposed national energy tax, which is a part of cap-and-trade, of being a “cap-and-tax” system that will “kill economic growth slamming small businesses with higher energy bill
