Why list summaries?
The mailing lists are a good place to get information about WMF projects; but they are also very high-traffic and can be hard to keep up with, especially for those with just a casual interest in the projects. For readers, the list summaries should serve as a way to find when issues are discussed that are of interest. These summaries also provide a kind of index to discussions that may be helpful in the future.
