Why on some student handhelds does the stylus not work correctly?

The first thing to check is to see if the student can redigitize their handheld. If you do it, the handheld will be set up to recognize how you hold the stylus and you may actually be doing the student a disservice. One way to redigitize is to tap the “Welcome” icon on the handheld screen. Once there you will soon be able to tap the all-familiar “X’s”. Sometimes you can tap forever and nothing helps. We have found NO way to fix this. Some percentage of handhelds seem to have, or develop this stylus recognition problem. If you soft reset the handheld, you will at least be able to get back into the handheld interface. Sometimes the problem can be lived with. Hard resetting the handheld is another course of action to be taken. It is likely the handheld will have to be replaced. – Report a Problem – Return to Question List – Students cannot beam each other they get a message that says (cannot initialize library).
