There is no greed in wanting something of which there is an unlimited supply. Ideas don’t run out, and sharing good ideas makes everyone richer. Furthermore, no one is entitled to compensation for work they undertook on their own. Look at all the great artists who died poor. Fair? no. Life isn’t fair. Yet people will continue to create great art. If it requires great effort to copy, and you request a copy, you should pay for it. If it requires a single click to copy, and you make that copy yourself, then no one need be paid. Interstingly, I agree with your premise… Copyright shouldn’t be shortened… It should be abolished entirely.
