Why people licensed animes?
Why are some good or old animes licensed? I mean, did those shows or animes did something wrong, or is it because it’s too old. They didn’t do anything wrong and it’s not because they’re old either. Products (animes in this context) are licensed in order to protect the creators intellectual property rights so that no one can re-distribute their works without their permission. If the work is licensed, people who would attempt to distribute it, especially for commercial gain, can be sued and prosecuted under copyright infringement laws i believe. Say you composed a song or a story, then someone distributed it, or worse, claimed it to be his own work and gained money from it, that would be like stealing from you, right? That’s what licenses try to avoid. They make sure that the rightful owners remain in control of the product they created. Also, was most animes made or come from Japan?
