Why should I secure the camera recording equipment? Dont the highly visible cameras deter any potential break-in and theft?
A. The intruders may not notice the camera system in their haste or may think they can avoid being captured on camera. One well placed camera may be the key to effective apprehension and prosecution. The heart of a good security system is the DVR/VCR which records the break-in and theft. When thieves realize that they are being recorded on camera, they will immediately shift their priority to finding the DVR or VCR security camera recorder and remove it. With the time and expense expended to install a good surveillance system, it only makes economic sense to secure the cameras evidence for later apprehension and prosecution. If the DVR or VCR is also taken, the surveillance system was completely a waste of time and money.
