The Solanaceae, or Nightshade Remedies, are one of the most interesting and diverse botanical groupings used in homeopathy. From the Solanaceae we derive Belladonna, Stramonium, Hyoscamus, Tabacum, Dulcamara and Capsicum — important remedies we use in daily practice. This group also includes potentially useful remedies which merit further exploration, including tomatoes (Lycopersicon), potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) and eggplant (Solanum melongena). Even some of the well known remedies in this grouping, such as Belladonna, Stramonium or Hyoscamus, have features which are often times missed in practice.
