Why Use iListens Correction Feature?
When you dictate, iListen attempts to determine what you said by comparing what it heard to it’s understanding of how you pronounce things as well as the context in which you say them. When you read the training files, you are teaching iListen how you pronounce the specific phonemes for your language. This allows iListen to adjust your individual voice profile for the differences between the way you pronounce things and the “average” voice model for your language and gender. But this is only part of the puzzle. iListen also needs to know the way you say things. Not just the way you pronounce phonemes, but the way you put words together. Here’s the rub: in order for it to learn how you pronounce things, you have to read stories iListen already knows. But those stories may or may not be close to the way you construct sentences when you speak. And you can’t read your own stories to train iListen because then it wouldn’t know them (and thus wouldn’t be able to adjust your profile for the w
