Why was the show Dirty Sexy Money cancelled by ABC network?
Despite mediocre ratings in season one, ABC decided to renew Dirty Sexy Money for a second year. Unfortunately, their gamble hasn’t paid off and it looks like time is running out for the Darling clan. As the story of Dirty Sexy Money begins, idealistic lawyer Nick George (Peter Krause) finds himself taking over his late father’s single client, the very rich and dysfunctional Darling family. Patriarch Tripp Darling (Donald Sutherland) is incredibly influential but needs all the help he can get to manage the fragile relationships with his wife Letitia (Jill Clayburgh) and their five grown children; politician Patrick (William Baldwin), promiscuous Karen (Natalie Zea), corrupt clergyman Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald), and immature, party-loving twins Jeremy (Seth Gabel) and Juliet (Samaire Armstrong). ABC pulls plug on ‘Pushing Daisies,’ ‘Dirty Sexy Money,’ ‘Eli Stone’ New episodes will not be ordered after this season. By Maria Elena Fern and ez November 22, 2008 Soon, the TV world will not have Ned the Pie Maker or the dysfunctional Darlings or Eli Stone/George Michael. ABC President of Entertainment Steve McPherson broke the news Thursday afternoon that the network was giving up on three sophomore shows, “Pushing Daisies,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Eli Stone.” Although McPherson never uttered the words “You’re canceled” to producers, the message was clear to the cast and crews: They had been dumped. The network is not ordering more episodes of the three series, though it will complete production and air all produced episodes of each. Behind the scenes, ABC officials insisted “the door was still open” on all three shows, but those who toiled on the shows began the process of letting go.
