The main reason is the same reason that moves the History: Slavery was a really good business and the slaves still were the cheapest handwork to the coffee production until 1888. Despite of all humanity reasons that started to grow inside the intellectuality and the raise of the abolitionism movement since 1850, the Brazilians emperor D. Pedro II kept the slavery system to benefit the farms and contain the raising of Republican movement. The factor recognized as a milestone to the abolition was the end of the Triple alliance war ( Paraguay’s war), because a huge contingent of slave finished the war as free soldiers and fought side by side with the free part of the people.
