Why would I use Oratorio instead of PowerPoint or SongShow Plus?
There are several reasons why Oratorio might fit your needs better than either of the above products. The first of these is time. We’ve worked hard to ensure that the most common tasks in getting a presentation ready for a church service are as quick and easy in Oratorio as possible, and we think we’ve succeeded in making that task more efficient than in any other package. The second is that Oratorio uses XML, a file format that is widely supported across the software industry, and which ensures that even if you decide to use other software later on, you’ll be able to transfer all the songs you’ve already entered into your new package. Additionally, the open XML format means that with a little work, you can integrate your Oratorio documents with your current workflow. For example, it’s entirely possible to write a script that would look at the contents of an Oratorio presentation, and layout a program for the service based on its contents.
