Reich was a brilliant protg of Sigmund Freud. His research into the mind-body connection in emotional trauma pioneered many of the most effective bodywork modalities practiced today, including Reichian psychotherapy. As with many pioneering men somewhat ahead of their time, Reich explored some topics which his contemporaries in the psychiatry establishment thought were “on the fringe”. Still, his principles of muscular and character armoring are as valid today as when he formulated them and provide a solid foundation for truly effective therapy.
