Will building windfarms help combat climate change?
Windfarms do not emit carbon dioxide during operation. Windfarm construction is a significant CO2 emitter, but the CO2 balance account is not clear. We assume an offshore windfarm will pay back multiples of its energy input (the energy put into creating it) and will represent a net reduction in CO2 emissions compared with a similar sized conventional power station.
