Will girls get fatter during puberty ?
Girls do retain more body fat as they start moving towards womanhood. That’s normal, and to some extent, it’s not ever going to go away (nor should it, it’s an intentional part of the whole biological process as you transition into being capable of carrying a baby). It’s not necessarily normal for women to go from a healthy weight for their age to medically obese. So if you’re finding you’re putting on a LOT of weight, you’ll want to talk to your pediatrician just incase there’s a hormonal imbalance of some kind driving it. But if you’re just finding that you’re filling out more and that places like your thighs are getting a little thicker than they were when you were just a kid, that’s totally normal.
