It definitely will, i started playing in the 8th grade, and i was real slow, but it took me a few months [ i only played like 2 times a week] and i was like the fastest kid on my team, im still kinda fast, but it takes time, could take a couple of months, Leg strength yeah, i can do 8- 45lb weights on a leg press, i weigh somewhere like a 100lbs
