In addition to their registration with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board, medical radiation technologists will be required to be licensed under the Radiation Act. This group, which includes diagnostic radiographers, therapeutic radiographers, and nuclear medicine technologists, will be subject to the common platform of radiation controls contained in the Act. Currently an exemption is in place for the requirement for medical radiation technologists to hold a licence to use radiation. This applies to persons who are registered by the Medical Radiation Technologists Board licence.
