Would a Republican (not in principle) government lead to a form of theocracy? ?

No, a republican government would not lead to a form of theocracy. There are too many checks on executive and legislative power. For example, George Bush is as neo-conservative of a president with support of the social conservative base as you will get, but we do not live in a theocracy. VP is also one of the most figure head positions there is. It doesn’t really matter Palin saying as there will not be any ties due to the democrats having control and since it is unlikely that the president is to die, VP has no use. Much of what she is saying is to simply increase the excitement within the conservative base, for whom McCain would not have been a top selection.
