Wow. Some of the answers you have gotten are quite ridiculous. There are lots of people in the world who love their pets as much or more than their own children. And as evidenced by the responses to your question it’s obvious that there are also plenty of people who don’t understand how someone could come to love a pet as much or more than a child. But I’m sure you can understand how your feelings towards your terrapins could become a serious problem for your family. No matter how arrogant and useless your husband is, your children are still relying on you for their care. They still deserve your love and affection and it is your responsibility to provide for them and show them your support, including your emotional support. If you find yourself completely unable to love your children, especially if it interferes with your ability to care for them, I strongly suggest you seek help from a therapist or counselor.
